How do I format hanging indents?

Several citations styles use hanging indents in reference lists or bibliographies. To format hanging indents:
Microsoft Word
- Highlight the section of text you would like to indent.
- Go to Format > Paragraph in the top bar menu
- Select Indentation in the Indents and Spacing tab
- Under "Special" select "Hanging"
- Click OK.
Google Docs
- Highlight the section of text you would like to indent
- Go to Format > Align & Indent > Indentation options in the top menu
- under Special intent select "Hanging"
- Click "Apply"
Apple Pages
- Highlight the section of text you would like to indent
- Click the Format side bar (paintbrush) and select the layout button near the top.
- Click the disclosure arrow next to Indents
