How do I set up Google Scholar to recognize my UNE access?

Answer

Google provides a search engine for scholarly literature: Google Scholar.

Google scholar provides broad results from both within and outside UNE's collections, and of subscription and open access journals.

In order to Google Scholar to recognize your UNE access to subscription content, you will need to link your account:

  1. Go to scholar.google.com
  2. Click on the top-right menu and select “Settings”
  3. Select “Library Links”
  4. Enter “University of New England” in the search box
  5. Choose “UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND – ProQuest Fulltext”

Google Scholar can be a good place to start exploratory searching to get an idea of what has been published on a topic, but does not provide the filtering tools to refine your results like the library searches. You may also find results from dubious predatory journals in a Google Scholar search, so be sure to check a journal's legitimacy before using something you found in Google Scholar in your work.
